Georgia financial affidavit: weekly to monthly at 4.35
Published October 28, 2026
Georgia's Domestic Relations Financial Affidavit asks for monthly figures, and Georgia sets the conversion in a court rule. Uniform Superior Court Rule 24.2A fixes how many weeks are in a month and how many hours are in a month of full-time work. This guide quotes the rule and works through examples. It is general information, not legal advice.
What Rule 24.2A says
Except as specified in the child support calculator instructions, all amounts listed must be monthly. In all domestic cases in which a conversion of economic data from weekly to monthly must be made, a conversion factor of 4.35 weeks per month shall be used.
In calculating monthly income based upon a forty hour work week, hourly salary shall be multiplied by 174 hours.
The rule was adopted effective January 17, 2008 and amended effective August 30, 2018. The affidavit repeats the idea in item 3A: "All income must be entered based on monthly average regardless of date of receipt."
Worked examples
| Paid | Using the rule | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | Weekly amount x 4.35 | $650 x 4.35 = $2,827.50 |
| Every two weeks | Half the paycheck is one week: ÷ 2 x 4.35, which is x 2.175 | $1,400 ÷ 2 x 4.35 = $3,045.00 |
| Hourly, 40 hours a week | Hourly rate x 174 | $18.50 x 174 = $3,219.00 |
| Twice a month | No weekly conversion needed: x 2 | $1,500 x 2 = $3,000.00 |
| Monthly | As is | $3,100.00 |
The rule speaks of weekly figures and of a forty-hour week. Splitting a two-week paycheck into weeks before multiplying is plain arithmetic rather than words in the rule, and for hours other than forty, the rule's 174 hours does not apply directly.
4.35 against 52 ÷ 12
The rule does not say where 4.35 comes from. For comparison, 52 weeks divided by 12 months is 4.333 weeks a month, and 365 days divided by 7 and then by 12 is 4.345. Because 4.35 is the larger number, Georgia figures come out a little higher than the 52 ÷ 12 method that Florida's and Illinois's instructions use:
- $650 a week: $2,827.50 by Rule 24.2A, against $2,816.67 by 52 ÷ 12, a difference of $10.83 a month.
- $1,400 every two weeks: $3,045.00, against $3,033.33.
Multiplying weekly pay by 4 is further off: $650 x 4 = $2,600, which is $227.50 a month less than the rule's figure.
Gross pay and net pay
Item 3A asks for gross monthly income, so the weekly amount to multiply is the gross on your pay stub, before taxes and deductions; the deposit in your bank account is smaller. Item 3B then asks for "Net Monthly Income from Employment (deducting only state and federal taxes and FICA)", with your pay period and the number of exemptions claimed. The rule's opening words, "Except as specified in the child support calculator instructions", leave the child support worksheet to its own instructions, which come with the Georgia Child Support Commission's calculator.
Expenses
Item 5A is headed "Average Monthly Expenses". A bill paid every week converts the same way as pay: $145 of groceries a week x 4.35 = $630.75 a month. For spending that changes, add up a period from your bank and card statements and divide by the months: $8,425.80 of grocery and household spending over 12 months is $702.15 a month on "Misc. Household and Grocery Items". Count a credit card's purchases once, not again as the payment from checking (see credit card payments versus purchases). For the whole form, see the Georgia affidavit explained.
Financial Affidavit Numbers uses Rule 24.2A's 4.35 when you type a weekly or every-two-weeks gross from a pay stub, and gives the monthly average of every other income and expense line from your statements, with the transactions behind each figure. It does not fill in the affidavit; you copy the figures you decide to use.
Common questions

How do I convert biweekly pay to monthly for a Georgia financial affidavit?
A two-week paycheck is two weeks of pay, so half of it is one week: ÷ 2 x 4.35, or x 2.175. $1,400 every two weeks is $3,045.00 a month.

No. 52 ÷ 12 is 4.333 weeks a month. Rule 24.2A sets 4.35 for all domestic cases in Georgia, so $650 a week is $2,827.50 a month rather than $2,816.67.
